Your First Visit
Your first visit to our office is a time for us to get to know you and to determine what your main concerns are. Each member of our Team is friendly and accessible, and we encourage our patients and parents to ask questions. We believe that patients will feel more comfortable when they know what to expect and are well informed of a procedure before it occurs. We try to avoid any unexpected surprises and let each patient know everything we are going to do, before we do it.
At your first visit, you will be greeted by one of our Team members, and initial paperwork will be finalized. Next, diagnostic records (photos and X-rays) will be taken to assist Dr. Held in determining the best course of treatment. We will coordinate with your general dentist’s office and will only take X-Rays that their Team has not recently taken. Once Dr. Held has studied the diagnostic records and the exam, she will develop a custom treatment plan just for you. If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is necessary, Dr. Held and our Team will have a consultation with you to discuss your treatment needs, treatment time, and the cost for your particular case. Impressions (or molds) of the teeth and gums can also be taken to save you from having to make an extra appointment. This entire initial appointment is complimentary.
If a patient is still developing and is not yet ready for treatment, Dr. Held will recommend that the patient be placed into a complimentary observation phase, where Dr. Held will follow growth and development to determine the appropriate time for treatment. During this phase, Dr. Held will be monitoring facial development, jaw growth, and the bite, as well as the transitioning of the teeth.
