For all patients, accurate impressions are essential for effective diagnosis and treatment planning prior to beginning treatment, efficient ongoing treatment, and exquisite retainer fabrication at the end of treatment. The accuracy and detail of the iTero scan vs. impressions is comparable to a modern day smartphone camera versus a grainy version from a decade ago.
The iTero Scanner captures the contours of tooth and gingival structures, producing an accurate digital orthodontic scan in minutes. This non-invasive, comfortable procedure is ideal for all patients.
How iTero Works
The iTero handheld wand takes a digital, 3D image of your teeth, stopping as needed. It’s like a small video camera for your mouth. The wand is non-invasive, and you can breathe and swallow as needed during the procedure. If you need to move or adjust, you can do so – the accuracy of the handheld wand is first-rate. Needing to “re-do” impressions is rare. Plus, you can look at the iTero 3D image on the screen in real time as Dr. Held or Michaela moves the wand!
When appliances, Aligners, or retainers are needed, instead of shipping impressions to the lab to be scanned offsite there, we will send this 3D digital image of your mouth electronically to the lab, where it will be available within minutes.
